| Elon`s perceptions are well meant. Albeit slightly naieve for someone who has spend a major part of his life involved in politics and political dealings. His comments on Rabin re the youth were simplistic at best. He equates the release of Amir with the downfall of Israel. But he doesn`t seem to want to look into why people may feel that a pardon is ok. Possibly the constant and open corruption of the government. Possibly favoritism allows certain politically connected people to kill and go free. I do not believe the youth are advocating freeing Amir because he killed rabin, but rather freeing amir because that is what politicals do for their friends and maybe the youth are only advocating commonality and equality of all. After all this is supposed to be a democratic system. I can only imagin if fat-son sharon killed rabin. He would still be waiting to serve his time. Maybe this is what the youth are concerned about. The process rather than the individual act. |
