| I`m not saying that Ethiopian Christians should be brought wholesale into Israel. I`m referring to Levi`s abhorrent comment and the glaring contradiction that the majority of recent immigrants from Russia were brought in by the hundreds of thousands regardless of their religious status, due to the `Grandfather Clause`, and get to be considered Jewish bec of their numbers and their skin color helps. Contrast this to the discrimination that the Ethiopian JEWS receive at the hands of the authorities/Israelis (they are Jews). Read thru the litany of problems they have with racism in Israel, not just one issue. Many Ashkenazim cast aspersions and doubt towards the Jewishness of anyone who isn`t one of them. Eastern/Sephardic Jews know what is happening to the Ethiopians because we continue to experience discrimination. |
