The article says: "She (Livni) had hoped to take advantage of her first visit to a Gulf state to strengthen Israel`s ties with moderate Arab states. It was to be the most high-profile visit by an Israeli official to the Gulf state in 10 years"
So Livni is going to ruin this chance for Israel to strengthen its ties with Qatar and turn down Israel`s opportunity for a high-profile and high-level visit to an Arab country just because Hamas is attending? Doesn`t Livni realize she is handing Hamas a decisive diplomatic victory?
Such action seriously sets back Israel`s efforts to restore ties with the Arab world and is a slap in the face to Qatar who is stretching it`s hand to Israel. What is Israel trying to do - dictate to Qatar who it invites (in this case, Hamas) and who it doesn`t?? You don`t treat a moderate and potential friendly Arab government in such an arrogant fashion. And what makes all this sickening is that Israel is ALLOWING Hamas to ruin this rare opportunity for Israel. |
