It`s nice to be a nice guy and take up the side of the as- it- were oppressed. However in doing so one should also take a look at the other side, and understand why Europeans and to a degree Americans feel so threatened.
Islamic communities in Europe by and large do not aim at integration within the larger society, but rather forming their own enclaves within these society with the eventual hope that for demographic reasons they will one day take over these declining- birth rate, negative growth states.
The fact is many Muslims say they have no interest in learning the language, obeying the laws, being truly part of the the European nation they happen to live in.
This does not mean that they should be persecuted. It does not mean even that they should be denied the right to wear the clothing they want. It just means that there is good reason for Europeans and Americans to be more suspicious of Muslim citizens than other. |
