One of the rights in a free society is the right to express ones views, no matter how abhorrent they may be to some. What should invite fear to those who still live in free countries is that these draconian anti-hate/anti-freedom laws, is that they simply drive those whose views are attacked into the shadows, often only to emerge as a movement that has gained even more strength. Thankfully I live in a country were the freedom of speech and expression are enshrined as one of our unalienable rights, and thus our democracy is strong.
The German anti-hate laws should be abolished and replaced with laws that ensure that the right to openly protest and express ones view is similarly protected, for those whose views are suppressed do not change their views, they just grow more and more angry and breed more hate.
