| You are right , they burned the books and the American flag because they were trying to start a fire so the poor children and old people in the area could stay warm and just as they were about to put a pot of soup over the flames - so they could feed the poor - they noticed the title of the book and that the rag they had thrown in was an American flag. "Oh my, look, we accidentaly burned Anne Frank`s book and the American Flag, douse the fire!" For that, they were called anti-semites. How unjust!
