Regardless of any future chance of Syria regaining portions of the Golan, only an ignorant fanatic would deny the Golan was part of Syria. The League of Nations put it in British Palestine, but the Brits swapped it with the French for the area around Metullah. After all, the French have never liked Jews and didn`t want to deal with the Jews living there.
The French managed the Golan until they created Syria, then the Syrians had it until `67. If it wasn`t for their repeated wars, they`d still have it.
We won it fair and square, and that kind of conquest is accepted everywhere else in the world. We should keep it. However, we`re Jews, we`re not allowed to do what everyone else can do, so we might be forced by int`l pressure to give some of it back. We`ll just have to see. |
