| Israel had six objectives over the course of the war which diminished in scope as the war went on. (1) Return the captured IDF men, (2) Stop the Hizbollah rockets, (3) Eliminate Hizbollah as a fighting force, (4) Decapitate the Hizbollah leadership, (5) Move Hizbollah away from the border, (6) Disarm Hizbollah. Israel withdrew without even coming close to achieving a single objective. Additionally, Hizbollah was to tenacious in the battlefield that the IDF commanders learned to keep away from them. At the end of the war, the IDF was still fighting in villages within a mile of the border. When you lead your article with such an obvious falsehood, many will stop reading at that point. |
