Great article Bradley! But I don`t agree with the definition of terrorism is an act "intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or non-combatants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling a government or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act."
if the sentence began with "civilians commiting an act `intended to cause death` to civilians..." I would say that is true. But armies around the world, yes even the patriotic americans and israelis, are guilty of this. under this definition we define IDF strikes in Qana and in Gaza and elsewhere in the territories and Lebanon as a terrorist act.
The IDF deliberately bombs these places to harm civilians with the intention of compelling Hezbollah to abstain from certain acts, like rockets and abductions.
The IDF knows that these buildings in the crowded residential neighborhoods of beirut house civilians. of course they know. bombing a civilian supporter of the Hezbollah is the same |
