| Unfortunately, Burston glosses over too much to be helpful here. (1) He omitted Irgun, which, in their own words, referred to themselves as a "terrorist militia" - as did also, at the time, their supporters in New York. (2) Anyone familiar (as I am) with the IDF`s tactics in Gaza and the West Bank knows that it seeks to terrorize the population there, by employing random brutality. (3) The Palestinians, a remarkably patient and resilient people, did not begin the first intafada until 20 years into the military occupation of their remaining lands. Would the Zionists of Israel have exercised such restraint? I could go on and on, but to little avail. Israelis will hardly be induced by my poor words to give up their urban myths. |
