Bracketing groups like Al quaeda and Jama islaimia together with Hamas, Fatah and Hezbollah is a convenient political ploy, but the latter groups are more like IRA and Mau mau, and should be easier to deal with by fair negotiation. Mau mau is long gone, as is Eoka in Cyprus. It seems to be a flawed argument to say that the partial withdrawal from Gaza proves that no occupation =no terrorism, because the occupation never ended.

Groups like Al Quaeda will continue to feed on the anger against Israel, but fundamentalist groups of any colour are very difficult to deal with, and their zeal will be with us for many years to come, but sorting out the Palestinian problem, and curbing Israeli aggression is a first step to removing one recruiting poster.

Otherwise, a very good assessment, Haaretz and Bradley.
