During the last war I had a problem with Israel`s assertion that Hezbollah was a terrorist organisation. The simple reason being it was an organisation set up to resist Israeli occupation of Southern Lebanon, and that this occupation by Israel had destroyed any credibility or control that the Lebanese government had in Southern Lebanon. So Hezbollah replaced the government providing Health care, Education and yes, defence.
Saying all that, Israel must surely be talking to Hezbollah, otherwise the alternative for the IDF soldiers held captive does not bare thinking about. As the military option is not an option anymore.
On another note, the United Kingdom, has and continues to negotiate with the IRA and the UDF, both terrorist organisation, both of whom have been committed to a ceasefire, and the use of politics to acheive their aims for many years.
Saying that 9/11 was problematic to the IRA, New York was not likely to continue funding the IRA after that |
