There`s some truth that statement nr 9 is false to the extent of being a generalization, but the logical problem is that it`s implied opposite statement (ex. "occupation leads to prevention of terrorism") is even more false and could be well made into lie nr 11. Military regime is to maintain the unjust status quo by force and not to eradicate the root of the problem. Having upper hand in the field it can afford speculative invertion of cause and effect too. Burston`s "Gaza argument" is credible only if we subscribe to lie nr 11. Unilateral partial withdrawal brings one terror-wise result; negotiated one brings another. Resettling scattered settler`s outposts to bigger West Bank towns is not withdrawal at all.
And yes, debunking lies is by far not always revealing the truth. |
