Before the current wave of terrorist attacks in the West hardly anyone,Jewish,Christian,agnostic hated Islam.
The West is and was largely secular and rather indiferent to religious values other than superficial rituals performed on baptism,weddings,funerals or some popular and joyful festivals like Christmas.
Of course there are notable exceptions such as Christian and Jewish fundamentalists but Islamists/Jihadist terrorist attacks have awaken the silent majorities in the West to the threat of primitive and aggressive religious fundamentalism in general. |
