Spot on. Read any of the Jewish scholars of Islam of the nineteenth century and you will find the religion praised as sublime.
The Quran and hadith are replete with recommendations to treat the life of the vulnerable as precious. Compete in good works, the Quran says, that is why Allah has separated us into different religious communities. In the spirit of asking for more information from Muslims responding to this list, could they perhaps tell us more about the pluralistic understandings they have been exposed to in their communities? And the bases on which Muslims have separated power and religious authority - a subject for which Islam received very high points from European sociologists (eg Ernest Gellner) who otherwise treated all religions, including Islam, as carrying a dangerous potential.
