You snide remarks are off target: Bush speaks "Southern" variant of American English. "Southern American" still has heavy traces of the English of the Pilgrim era, kind of Shakespearean.
Back home in Sussex you are accustomed to judge peoples` IQs based on theit accents: public school vs. private, Cockney vs. Wales etc. High-class English is the only way you can assert your relevance and influence.
But do not worry, things will get better and you will all speak Punjabi anyway..... Maybe then your food will be better and women prettier, too. |
