The self-monikered USA claims I am speaking "nonsense", or getting my facts from Fox News. My own family hails from the now decimated Syrian Jewish community of Aleppo, so there`s no cause to talk down to me. What I referenced is a well documented history available to any but the stubbornly oblivious. If one is inclined to study history (which he probably isn`t), see for example Norman Stillman`s source books, "The Jews of Arab Lands". Or check out the organization Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa (JIMENA)
As to the Jews of Egypt, when I lived years ago in Montreal I knew a family from Alexandria who were driven out of Egypt right after the `56 war. So to say some Jews were still around in `58 (or `67 for that matter when yet more were driven out) only tells me the hostility or pressure to leave hadn`t run its course. |
