World Jewry is strongest, and the world better off, when we find *both* a strong cultural and spiritual homeland, *and* a healthy Diaspora. It should not be seen in either/or terms. The Diaspora needs that spiritual focal point to remind them of their common destiny as a faith community, the homeland needs the moral support of that dispersed community, and the support of the nations in which they dwell, to remind them that they are not alone.

Part of the "blessing" the Jews have brought to the nations comes from their "being there", serving as innovators, as a moral voice, and as a "bridge" between communities. Today we see more than 90% of the Jewish remnant in just five countries. The full implication of such a concentration is not yet clear. But it`s clear that the Arab nations, by oppressing and ultimately driving out some 800,000 Jews from their midst, have brought a curse down on themselves.
