I doubt if Hezbollah is interested in peace since they have a gun on their flag, and every second statement is about killing Jews. That seems somewhat obvious, except to some in the EU.
So then, one can ask, will they become farmers and run shops in a peaceful post war Lebanon? No. Will they scare off Syria, well maybe but Syria is supporting them along with Iran
This was just one step in which a confused and timid Olmert sent in about 5% of the IDF regulars and reserves, and mostly late and gave the impression that he wanted to kill civilians and suffer zero IDF casualties, and stay in political power.
Now there are two ways for Israel to do it: negotiations or IDF victory. They did neither in the past month. Going forward, it depends entirely on how Israel wants to handle expected Lebanese violation of pargraph 8. They can still win and can re-invade legally, but do they have the fortitude?
