The trouble with putting women in adverts is not they shouldn`t be placed there, but what happens when there are no limits to can be portrayed. In the 80`s and 90`s in Israel you could see scenes of gang rape, voyeureism, all the things that denegrate women. It`s not just Haredim who object to the excesses that Israeli advertisers go to sell widgets.

I recall the advert that promoted suntan lotion with a couple petting on the beach at sunset--is that what you want you teach your teenager children?!

The advertising company`s decision may be exaggerated, but yet again, HaAretz and its ultra-Secularist ranters have another reason to salivate at Haredim.

It`s curious the way Shas, Agudat Israel, and other Religious Parties have a long and steady committment to social issues. Okay, Traditional and Observant Jews are in the lower half of the income level, but it includes others, whereas hard line Secularists often talk about a sound economy
