Delays expected at Ben Gurion Airport as security is upgraded

By Zohar Blumenkrantz, Haaretz Correspondent

Israel Airports Authority on Sunday closed one of the two main flight paths at Ben Gurion International Airport in order to upgrade security measures.

This move is likely to cause delays due to the fact the airport will be using only one flight path until May 12th.

The second flight path will reopen temporarily during Passover - from April 11th to April 28th - in order to cope with the large amount of visitors expected to come to Israel for the holiday season.

"We are concentrating on upgrading security and the safety of our flight paths and have allocated one billion shekels for that purpose," the Airports Authority said.
