Umm al-Fahm resident shot to death outside her homeBy Eli Ashkenazi, Haaretz Correspondent and Haaretz Service A 22-year-old resident of Umm al-Fahm died Friday night after she was shot multiple times in the front yard of her house, Israel Radio reported on Saturday. The woman's husband rushed her to the hospital in critical condition, but efforts to revive her failed. The husband told police that his wife was standing outside of their house in Umm al-Fahm when someone opened fire on her and fled. Police on Friday evening found the body of a taxi driver on a street in Ashdod covered in gunshot wounds. Rescue personnel pronounced the victim dead on the scene. Witnesses reported seeing an unknown assailant open fire on the driver before fleeing the scene. Police are treating the case as a murder. Earlier on Friday, a 44-year-old man was found beaten to death in a hostel in Tel Aviv where he had been a long time resident. Police have detained a fellow resident of the hostel on suspicion that he killed the man. Also on Friday, a resident of Migdal Haemek was moderately wounded after being stabbed in his stomach.
