Seeing Israel through the lens of its collective memory

Israel's history doesn't lack documentation, but many of the young country's most memorable images came from the camera of one man.

David Rubinger, now 83 years old, is one of Israel's most influential photojournalists, whose pictures frame the collective memory of a young nation.

He was there almost from the beginning - from the United Nations announcement of the Partition Plan for Palestine, to Israel's many wars, and everything in between.
