Haaretz.com launches innovative Jewish genealogy serviceBy Haaretz Service Haaretz.com, in cooperation with Israeli start-up Famillion, is launching a new genealogy and social network search engine, aimed at connecting the Jewish people worldwide. The initiative aspires to bring together Jews from all over the world, and help them construct the narrative of the Jewish people through the stories of millions of families. The project focuses on the link between Jewish families from North America and Europe and the entire Jewish people, including families in Israel. The project gives participants the tools to create a digital family tree, attach family stories and photos, and keep relatives updated on planned family events. The network will also allow families the chance to interact with one another and operate a personal network with high-end solutions for information security. Hadas Goldstein, the CEO of the Haaretz Group Online: "Every month, some one million people log on to Haaretz.com, the online English edition of Haaretz Newspaper, most of them American. We predict that enabling these people to connect with one another and discover shared family connections in the Diaspora as well as in Israel will provide them with an exciting and innovative service." Dan Rolls, the founder of Famillion, says "the cooperation with Haaretz.com gives surfers the opportunity to be in touch with every Jewish person in the world, whether through a family connection or a new-found friendship that breaks through the boundaries of belief and world view. This social-family network is unique in the population it targets, and well as in the benefit of cooperating with the English edition of Haaretz newspaper."
