As volunteers come in droves, Kibbutzim run out of room to house them

Each year, youths from around the world come to Israel to volunteer on Kibbutzim throughout the country. There's only one problem: Many of the Kibbutzim have run out of room to house them.

In recent months, the number of volunteers on Kibbutzim has doubled, and Kibbutzim are often unable to provide them with housing.

Even the recent murder of an Ecuadorian volunteer on Kibbutz Ein Ha Shlosha by Palestinian snipers in Gaza has not deterred the recent flood of volunteers.

For many of these foreign volunteers, the urge to work in the cafeterias, fields, and factories of Israel's kibbutzim comes from a desire to experience Israel first-hand, an experience that will continue to draw young volunteers from around the world.
