Vandals set fire to Israel Football Association offices in Ramat Gan

By Roni Zinger-Heruti and Haaretz Service

The Ramat Gan Stadium offices of the Israel Football Association were set ablaze early Wednesday, causing extensive damage.

At 2:30 A.M. police and fire fighting forces were notified of the fire. They arrived at Ramat Gan Stadium shortly after, and the fire fighters put out the blaze.

An investigation of the incident revealed that shortly before the fire broke out, a group of unidentified people arrived at the football association's offices, painted slogans, including "Luzon is dead," "we will murder you," and "Beitar Jerusalem," on the stadium's walls.

The perpetrators then smashed several of the building's windows, using bricks, and set fire to the offices with the aid of flammable chemicals.

Police are investigating the incident, although no suspects have been arrested.

MK Avshalom Vilan (Meretz) demanded that Public Security Minister Avi Dichter launch an investigation into the incident. "The writing concerning the violent behavior of Beitar Jerusalem supporters has been on the wall for years, and it is time for the team's management to cooperate with the association and the police in order to bring them to justice," said Vilan.
