Bethlehem sees record number of tourists for Christmas

Bethlehem residents have been preparing for an especially happy holiday, as for the first time in years, hotels are at full occupancy.

Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians and between Fatah and Hamas did not serve to keep tourists away this Christmas season, the eighth since the second Intifada began.

20,000 tourists were expected attend Christmas mass in Bethlehem, setting a new record.
