Police seize suspect in Haifa assault-robbery of woman, 81By Fadi Eyadat, Haaretz Correspondent Police arrested Monday a man suspected of robbing and beating an 81-year-old Haifa woman, Malka Yariv, 81, in the northern city last month. Officers found Mordechai Fadida, 22, in a Petah Tikva apartment. He was taken to a Haifa court and remanded in custody. The robbery occurred while she was exiting a bank on Haifa's Arlozorov Street. The robber lurked from behind, struck her and forcefully snatched her bag, which contained personal items and cash. She suffered bodily and facial injuries. In the last month police have also arrested three other people suspected of involvement in the incident, one of a number of attacks on elderly people in Israel in recent weeks. |
