Caregiver indicted for murdering elderly charge hangs herself

Elena Roaves, the Moldovan caregiver indicted for murdering her elderly charge, hung herself on Wednesday night in her cell at the Prison Service medical center in Ramle.

According to the indictment against her, Roeves, 47, killed Shoshana Bierenbach, 76, over her disparaging comments regarding the man she was dating and her accusations of stealing her money.

Roaves allegedly strangled the elderly Holocaust survivor from Holon with several belts and then set fire to her bed with the body. She was seriously injured with she jumped out the window after committing the crime, according to the indictment.


Roaves was released on Wednesday from the hospital and transferred to Prison Service custody.
