Woman, daughter indicted for paying renovator to kill daughter's husband

By Efra Eidelmann, Haaretz Correspondent

An indictment was filed Wednesday with Tel Aviv District Court against a woman and her daughter who allegedly attempted to pay a man to kill the daughter's husband.

The indictment, filed by the Central District Attorney's office, said the mother approached Palestinian renovator Mahani Suleiman while he carried out renovations on her home, and asked him to murder her daughter's husband saying "You Arabs have no problem with murder."

Suleiman asked to consider the request, the indictment says, meeting again with the woman in September and requesting payment for the deed. The mother told him money was not a problem, and he asked for NIS 2,000 to 3,000, as well as confirmation from the daughter that she wanted to have her husband killed. The indictment says the mother arranged for her daughter to meet Suleiman, and during their meeting she told him "I am one hundred percent in favor [of the killing]."

A few hours later, the mother paid Suleiman NIS 5,700 in cash.

The indictment further states that in one of their conversations, Suleiman said he knew a sheikh that could put a curse on the husband which would kill him and requested the mother bring him clothes and other personal items belonging to the daughter. However instead of going to the sheikh he said he knew, Suleiman told the police about the deal. The police deployed an undercover agent posing as the sheikh's representative.
