An Israel Defense Forces reservist was killed and four were injured on Monday morning when an armored personnel carrier flipped over during a military drill in the Golan Heights.

The reservist was named as 28-year-old Staff Sergeant Asaf Waxman from Rishon Letzion.

It was unclear what caused the vehicle to turn over.

The reserve brigade exercise took place between Ma'aleh Gamla and Yehudia junction, at a tank unit meeting ground in the area. Rescue crews pronounced the soldier dead at the site of the crash.

Another soldier was airlifted to Poriya Hospital in Tiberias. His injuries were not life-threatening.

An IDF soldier from the Golani Brigades was killed last week in a Hummer crash on the Gaza Strip border.
