Prosecution closes sexual abuse file against actor Ze'ev Revach

By Roni Singer-Haruti, Haaretz Correspondent

The Tel Aviv District Prosecutor on Sunday closed a file on the alleged sexual abuse of two women by actor Ze'ev Revach, citing lack of evidence.

Proescutor Ruth David and her team announced the decision at the end of a hearing on the case, saying the allegations could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Police opened the investigation in June 2006 after two actresses filed a complaint against Revach, best known for his starring roles in a number of Israeli cult films in the 1970s and 1980s.

One complainant claimed Revach deliberately altered the text of her role in a joint production, adding inappropriate sexual references. She also alleged he had touched her and asked her to touch him in return.

In response to the complaint, police questioned Revach over the allegations which he vociferously denied.

During questioning, the complainant said she suspected Revach had also abused another actress that participated in the play who was summoned to give testimony. The second actress also claimed Revach made adulterations to her text and touched her inappropriately.

Both actresses quit the play after a couple of months.
