Police call off search as dangerous fugitives return to mental hospitalBy Fadi Edayat, Haaretz Correspondent Two mentally ill patients who escaped Wednesday from two different psychiatric hospital returned safely without causing harm to themselves or others. Both patients were forcibly hospitalized by order of a judge and the police said that they are dangerous to themselves and others. 38-year-old David Ben Adiva, who escaped from the Tiran Hakarmel psychiatric hospital earlier Wednesday, and a 26-year-old man from Kiryat Malachi named Arye, who escaped from the Sha'ar Mensahe psychiatric hospital Wednesday, returned to the hospitals Wednesday afternoon. Coastal Plain District police said that Arye, who was convicted of assaulting his father's girlfriend, managed to escape from the medical staff's care. Police, who said he suffers from schizophrenia, are searching for him in the Pardes Hana and Hadera area. |
