New Kadima MK sworn in to replace outgoing lawmaker BreznitzBy Mazal Mualem, Haaretz Correspondent Kadima's Director General Yohanan Plesner was sworn in Tuesday as a member of Knesset replacing Shlomo Breznitz who handed in his resignation earlier this morning. Brezintz, who is considered to be an ally of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and is 21st on the party's parliamentary list, said he decided to resign in order to focus on academic research. As a well-known lecturer of psychology, Breznitz founded the Cognifit company in 1998 that develops programs that helps preserve maximal cognitive skills and daily functioning of Alzheimer sufferers. His replacement is a former member of an elite Israel Defense Forces unit with a masters from Harvard university. In the past, Plesner was put in charge of special projects for the Prime Minister's Office by then prime minister Ariel Sharon. Plesner is 32nd on the party list and was in charge of building up its organizational structure when it was founded. |
