Court jails man with thousands of child pornorgaphy files on computer

Tel Aviv's Magistrate's Court on Thursday sentenced a man found in possession of child pornography on his computer to five months in prison that will be commuted to community services and a fine of NIS 5,000.

The defendant, Vladimir Mil, admitted downloading thousands of films and pictures of child pornography from internet Websites.

Mil's lawyer argued putting him on trial was an invasion of his privacy because his client acquired the material for himself and is not accused of hurting anyone.

In its ruling, however, the court rejected his argument claiming Mil's right to privacy is overruled by the necessity of defending minors from pedophiliacs.

The ruling is part of an international effort to fight pedophilia found on the internet.

Last June, U.K. police arrested members of a pedophilia ring was that had over 700 participants ?two hundred of within Britain and the rest spred out in 35 different countries.
