80-year-old contractor dies after being assaulted in JerusalemBy Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondent An 80-year-old contractor died Thursday after he was assaulted in a Jerusalem building that is under construction. Police arrested two individuals believed to have been at the scene at the time of the assault. The contractor was apparently involved in a business dispute, possibly one of the suspects, who hit the contractor during an argument. No other signs of violence were discovered on the body, and police believe that he had a heart attack shortly after the assault. The suspects allegedly saw him collapse, and fled the scene without providing medical assistance or notifying authorities. Police sources stressed that this is an initial assessment, as there were no eyewitnesses to the assault. Construction workers in the area called Magen David Adom emergency medical services, but paramedics were unable to resuscitate him. The contractor's body was transferred to Abu Kabir Forensic Institute to determine the cause of death. |
