Resident of northern Bedouin town shot, killed in his car

A Bedouin resident of northern Israel was shot and killed while driving to work Sunday, apparently as part of an ongoing Bedouin family feud.
The 40-year-old resident of Arab al-Aramshe was accompanied by his son at the time of the shooting.
The son told the police that as they were driving on the highway between Granot and Goren, a car approached them from the opposite direction and fired a round into their vehicle, hitting his father. The son was unharmed. An emergency medical team pronounced the father's death at the scene.
The police suspect that the shooting was a continuation of a fight that erupted Saturday evening between two families in the northern town. The fight escalated into a gunbattle and three people were moderately to seriously hurt.
The mass fight was a part of an ongoing feud between the Ali and Suidan families. Large police forces arrived at the scene following the exchange of fire Saturday night and arrested four people.
Arab al-Aramshe is a Bedouin town near Israel's northern border. Many of its residents serve in the Israel Defense Forces or security forces and therefore own weapons.
