5 killed in traffic accidents early Tues.; man runs over own daughter

Five people were killed and one seriously was wounded in traffic accidents early Tuesday morning, Israel Radio reported.
In the village of Wadi Al-Qassam, in the Wadi Ara region, a local resident accidentally ran over and killed his two-year-old daughter while he was driving in reverse, the report stated.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident.
Near the Arava desert junction, four people were killed after the jeep they were traveling in flipped over, the radio report stated.
A fifth passenger in the jeep was moderately wounded and was evacuated by helicopter to Soroka hospital in Be'er Sheva.
244 people have died so far this year in traffic accidents.
