Wanted Palestinian badly hurt trying to flee arrest near NablusBy Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondent Israel Defense Forces reserves soldiers on Thursday seriously wounded a wanted Palestinian who tried to flee arrest at a roadblock north of the West Bank city of Nablus. The man was shot in the chest while attempting to escape troops who tried to arrest him. Earlier Thursday, two border policemen killed a 17-year-old Palestinian at a roadblock north of Ramallah in the West Bank. An army spokesperson said the youth was arrested by Palestinian police, but bolted from the patrol car and tried to attack Israeli police at the roadblock. He was shot by border policemen in the chest and evacuated to a Ramallah hospital, where he later died of his wounds. Both Palestinians involved in Thursday's incidents were unarmed. |
