PM to AG: Launch criminal probe against State Comptroller

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert demanded Monday that Attorney General Menachem Mazuz order a criminal investigation into State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss for "abuse of power."
"You are hereby requested to view our letter as a complaint against the State Comptroller and order a criminal investigation of him, for he is the one that is breaking the law by systematically leaking excerpts from drafts of his reports to the press and by haranguing the prime minister," reads the letter from Olmert's attorneys, obtained by Channel 2 television.
Sources close to the prime minister have complained that Lindenstrauss published a report criticizing Olmert's purchase of a house in Jerusalem without first getting a response from Olmert.
The State Comptroller's Office said in response that Olmert was asked to respond but failed to do before the report's publication.
