Palestinians fire 4 Qassams at Negev; no injuries or damage

By Mijal Grinberg, Haaretz Correspondent

Palestinians fired four Qassam rockets at the Negev early on Sunday, bringing the weekend total to 10.

One of the Qassams fired Sunday landed in an uninhabited area between Kibbutz Nir-Am and Kibbutz Or Ha-Ner in the Negev west of the Gaza Strip. No injuries or damage were reported.

It was not known where the other rockets landed.

The regional alert system was activated, giving residents approximately 90seconds warning before the impact of the missiles. The system was installed by the military during the Second Lebanon War.

Israel Defense Force sources say six Qassam rockets were fired into Israel before Sunday, landing at four separate sites.

Two rockets were fired on Friday, one of which landed in Palestinian territory.

On Saturday, a rocket hit the roof of a family home in Negev Desert town of Shderot.

Damage was caused, however no injuries were suffered as the house was empty at the time of the attack.

A mortar landed in the same region, and another rocket landed in Kibbutz Carmia, where settlers evacuated from the Gaza strip in August 2006 are temporarily housed.

Rockets fired from the Gaza strip land most frequently in Sderot.
The town's security officer, Yehuda Ben-Maman said the 'Red Dawn' alert failed to sound in some of the locations where rockets landed this weekend.
