Israeli Film wins Best Narrative Feature award at Tribeca FestivalBy Haaretz Service The Israeli film 'My Father My Lord' (Hofshat Kaits) on Thursday was presented with the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. The film is one of two Israeli films participating in the festival. Director Ido Haar's documentary '9 Star Hotel.' The award is a top honor in the festival, falling within the world narrative category. In addition to the honor, the festival awarded director David Volach $50,000 and the artwork 'Maternal Nocturne' by Stephen Hannock. The film, made in 2006, stars Assi Dayan as a respected rabbi in an ultra-Orthodox community who is "forced to come to terms with the demands of his faith and the welfare of his own family," according to the festival's website. Last summer, Volach was awarded the Discovery of the Year award at the Haifa International Film Festival, where the film also won an award for its cinematography. |
