Palestinian teen planning to stab troops arrested in West BankBy Amos Harel, Yair Ettinger, and Yehonatan Lis, Haaretz Correspondents A Palestinian teenager was arrested on Monday after she was caught with two knives on her person at the Qalandiya checkpoint next to Jerusalem. The girl, a resident of Ramallah, admitted under questioning that she was planning on stabbing Israeli security personnel at the checkpoint. On Sunday, a 17-year old Palestinian stabbed two border policemen at a security installation next to the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron. Right before he was to be given a security check, the youth drew a knife and stabbed one policeman in the ribs, wounding him. A moment later, he stabbed another policeman in the shoulder, lightly wounding him. The Border Patrol commander at the scene fired at the youth, lightly wounding him in the leg. After being shot, he was treated on the scene by Israeli paramedics. |
