Israeli Arab abducted in Gaza by armed Palestinian militantsBy Avi Issacharoff Palestinian armed militants on Saturday abducted a Gaza-born Israeli Arab in the Gaza Strip, witnesses reported. Jihad Zadara, who has been living in Jaffa for the past few years, traveled to Gaza to visit his wife and is said to have been kidnapped by a group of armed men on Saladin Street. Gaza's police have not issued a response and the circumstances of his abduction are not yet known. Similar abductions have taken place in the unstable Gaza Strip in the past. Some six months ago an Israeli Arab man was kidnapped and his wife was shot near the main passenger crossing from the Gaza Strip to Israel. The man, Riyadh al-Louh, and his wife, Khatima al-Louh, were returning from a family visit in the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahiya when unidentified gunmen opened fire at them. Khatima al-Louh was shot in the foot and slightly injured, and Riyadh al-Louh was abducted, officials said. The kidnapping appeared to have been related to a family dispute, Palestinain security officials said. |
