Parents of Tair Rada ask court to help spur new investigationThe parents of slain Katzrin teenager Tair Rada petitioned the High Court of Justice yesterday to order the state prosecutor to explain why there should be no new investigation into their daughter's murder. The State Prosecutor's Office should re-investigate, the parents say, "in light of the accumulation of evidence it has." As reported in Haaretz, Shmuel and Ilana Rada approached the prosecutor two weeks ago with the request, but they were turned down a few days ago. "Once an indictment has been issued, the venue for examining the investigation and the decisions taken during that process is the court where the suspect's [guilt or innocence] is assessed," assistant state prosecutor Elad Rosenthal wrote to the parents. The petition states that "many questions came up and loomed larger" during the investigation, and that the parents had no doubt that if the suspect, Roman Zadorov, is found innocent after a long trial, the investigative trail in other directions will have gone cold. The couple also presented the court with what they said was a series of failures in the investigation and directions not fully explored. |
