Attorney investigated over involvement in Bank Leumi affairBy Haaretz Service The National Fraud Investigative Unit on Sunday interviewed Attorney Tami Ben-David who represented Australian billionaire Frank Louie during his acquisition of the controlling share of Bank Leumi, under suspicion that she had illegal involvement in the deal. Ben-David was interviewed for a number of hours on Sunday before being let go under restrictions. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is also under suspicion of attempting to change, unsuccesfully, the conditions for privatization of Bank Leumi, in a way that would benefit Frank Louie, a friend of his. Ben-David is considered a highly respected legal counsel and works for a firm where one of the partners is Olmert's father-in-law. Ben David stated on Sunday that she cooperated fully with the investigative unit adding that she could not give any statements on the details of the investigation. |
