15 members of Jaljulya crime family sentenced to prison termsBy Nir Hasson, Haaretz Correspondent Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Thursday sentenced 15 members of the Hariri-Iyat crime family of Jaljulya to prison terms for offenses related to extortion and violence. Jamal Hariri will serve 15 years in prison, his brother Iyad 14 years, and brothers Wahbi and Kamel 11 years. The brothers were convicted of extortion through force, weapons possession, arson, firing in a residential area, and sabotage, among other violations. The Hariris were also convicted of intent to harm a state witness. The conviction was made possible after police and the state prosecutor's office presented two witnesses, one of whom was working for police within the crime organization. |
