Suspect in Rada murder to stay in remand until end of proceedings

By Eli Ashkenazi, Haaretz Correspondent

Roman Zadarov, charged with the murder of Katzrin teenager Tair Rada, will be held without bail until the end of proceedings.

His defense attorneys did not argue against the prosecution's request, saying that this "tactical decision" allows them not to reveal their next moves to the prosecution - a decision they say Zadarov supports.

Zadorov would most likely have remained in custody even if his attorney's objected, as he has been indicted for murder and has confessed to the crime.

The defense now plans to prove that Zadorov's confession and reconstruction of the crime were obtained improperly and contain faults.

The prosecution last week rejected claims that Zadorov had met with a psychiatrist at the Ziv Hospital in Safed and that the meeting went undocumented. A record of such a meeting is missing from the suspect's file, leading Zadorov's defense attorney, David Spiegel, to postulate that the meeting was actually with a policeman posing as a psychiatrist.

Personnel at the Ziv Hospital refused to confirm whether Zadorov came in for treatment, citing medical privilege.
