Ofer Glazer arrives at T.A. court to begin serving jail sentenceBy Arnon Ben-Yair, Haaretz Correspondent Businessman Ofer Glazer, husband of billionaire Shari Arison, arrived at the Tel Aviv District Court Sunday morning in order to begin serving a 6-month prison sentence for sexual harassment. Glazer was sentenced to 6 months in prison, an additional 15-month suspended sentence and a fine of NIS 15,000, to be paid to each of the two complainants against him. Glazer was to be transferred from the courthouse to the Nitzan prison in Ramle, where he was to undergo psychological and medical examinations. It was then to be decided at which prison he would ultimately serve his sentence. Accompanying Glazer to the courthouse were his wife, his attorney Ofer Tzur, public relations expert Rani Rahav and Glazer's brother. Going against custom, Glazer holed up in the presiding judge's chambers and sent his associates to sign forms in his name at the court office. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court rejected Glazer's appeal to reduce his sentence. Glazer was convicted of two counts of harassment, one in May 2003 involving a woman who sought to rent an Eilat apartment from him, and the other in August 2003, when he harassed a nurse who was tending to his wife. |
