17 people injured in Rishon Letzion industrial zone fireBy Roni Singer-Haruti, Haaretz Correspondent At lease 17 people, including a woman and her baby, were injured from smoke inhalation Monday after a fire broke out in a warehouse in the Rishon Letzion industrial zone. The warehouse, on Lishinsky Street, borders a Health Maintenance Organization clinic that was crowded with people at the time of the fire. Over 40 people from the HMO clinic and nearby offices fled to the clinic's roof and remained there until they were rescued by firefighters. Firefighters combed the fire area to confirm that no one was trapped in the flames. Initial investigations indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit. |
